In Solidarity with Japan

While acknowledging the many sorrowful events that we have witnessed over the prior weeks and months, this statement discusses just one. The stabbing spree in Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. The Tsukui Yamayurien facility which houses individuals with disabilities came under a viscous assault that left at least 19 dead and 45 wounded. I won’t strive to justify or comprehend the actions of one individual that has led to such dire repercussions for so many others. I won’t exhibit my fury in response to actions born from prejudice despite its undeniable presence. I simply and irrevocably rest my heart with the victims and those who mourn as a result of yesterday’s actions.
